The world

A curiosity-led approach to exploring movement, confidence and the world around you.

Parkour has shaped so much of who I am - the way I move, the way I parent, the way I teach, and the way I understand the body. It’s a practice rooted in curiosity, creativity, adaptability and presence. And it continues to influence the playful, somatic and nervous-system aware movement work I share today.

I run Parkour workshops and collaborate on movement experiences when the opportunity arises. Parkour remains woven through everything I do - from Breathwork to Curious Somatics to my own daily practice.

I promise you, once you start Parkour, you won’t look at your surroundings in the same way again. The world will literally become your playground, and you will learn to look at the challenges life throws at you through a completely different lens.

Parkour is a movement discipline with a focus on navigating over, around, under obstacles in both urban and natural environments. It values freedom, utility, creativity, autonomy and adaptability, and promotes self-discovery by revealing our physical and mental limits. When we meet these limits it encourages us to investigate ways to work with them and move past them.

The things I love most about Parkour are the community, the culture, and the philosophy behind it. It has a very strong sense of altruism, effort and purpose. It encourages those who practice it to use the skills they develop to help others and make a difference to their community. Parkour involves movements such as jumping, climbing, vaulting, swinging, balancing, and moving on all fours.

Despite popular belief, Parkour is not about jumping over rooftops (although that is part of it for some people), and it is non-competitive. It is quite simply about moving through your environment and navigating the obstacles in your path. It is for all ages, and all levels of fitness and strength.

The wonderful thing about Parkour is that you start wherever you are at.

Parkour has become an essential part of my physical, mental and spiritual health. It inspires me to see life and the world around me differently – I see the opportunities for challenge, play, growth, adventure, creativity, freedom all around me.

What clients are saying…

  • “Thank you Paula for the amazing family parkour session we had with you. Your skill and knowledge were exceptional. You were patient, motivating and encouraging, and guided us to achieve so much more than we believed we were capable of. And your way with children is truly a gift. You have inspired each of us to explore parkour...and to enjoy the world as our playground!"

    Nichola D’Monte

  • "Our son had never climbed a tree before, he’s usually a pretty cerebral little guy, but by the end of his first session, Paula had him scaling one confidently and safely. He was absolutely thrilled and so proud of himself. Paula’s guidance and encouragement were incredible. Her expertise and ability to connect with the kids made all the difference."

    Suzanne

  • “I've attended parkour workshops with Paula for women and families, and they've both been great - we came away with new ideas for play and movement, had a great time and got out of our comfort zones in a supportive environment. If you're thinking of trying out a course or session, don't hesitate! Highly recommended!"

    Bethan Winn

  • “Your strength and agility is seriously impressive and motivating for a short gal like me! The classes were fun and challenging and it was great to learn new skills and ways at looking at our environment. Everything is an obstacle to be traversed. I've got so much more to learn and look forward to participating in more sessions in the future."

    Samantha

  • "I particularly appreciate Paula's ability to meet my kids where they are at and to create a safe space for them to try new things when they feel ready. Their confidence and skills in outdoor movement have blossomed."

    Tess Burton

  • “Paula is an awesome instructor - always positive and encouraging. Jumping, vaulting, wall climbing... such a fun way to exercise! I feel noticeably stronger and more confidant in my movements."

    Melanie Jeffery

  • “Paula is fantastic at engaging the participants with her gentle, enthusiastic and knowledgable guidance. My son has learnt many parkour terms and has begun to incorporate the specific movements into his everyday outdoor play."

    Ella Hicks

  • “I found it was delightfully challenging with breakdown of how to go about things, using the environment rather than gym equipment, that it was out in the open/nature and open space - paths, railings, walls, stairs etc. I thoroughly enjoyed it."

My Role in the Parkour Community

Parkour has been a meaningful part of my life for many years. I’m certified with the Australian Parkour Association, and my work has taken me across community spaces, festivals, retreats and international gatherings.

My involvement over the years has included:

  • Past President and active member of the Perth Parkour committee

  • Committee member with the Australian Parkour Association

  • Coordinator (with help!) of WamJam 2019 - Australia’s national Parkour gathering for women, girls and non-binary people

  • Presenter at Art of Retreat North America (2019) on neurodiversity and inclusivity in Parkour

  • Facilitator of Parkour workshops at The Wild Village Festival, Fearless Women’s Forest Gathering and She Seeks Adventure

  • Long-term community member, coach, and advocate for accessible, playful, curiosity-led movement

Parkour continues to inform the way I understand embodied confidence, nervous system safety, creativity and our natural instinct for exploration. It’s a philosophy that lives in everything I do.

What is Parkour’s history?

The Parkour we see today emerged in the 1980s in the suburbs south of Paris — Évry, Sarcelles and Lisses — where nine young men developed what was then known as l’Art du Déplacement. Its roots trace further back to Raymond Belle, Georges Hébert, the French military, and Hébert’s methode naturelle, inspired by the physical conditioning of Indigenous peoples in Africa.

Parkour continues to evolve with each new generation and each new practitioner. I honour and acknowledge the founders of Parkour/l’Art du Déplacement, and I aim to share the spirit and values of this discipline with my children, my clients and the people I meet.
